Changing Political Landscapes

Friday, August 13th, 2010

Since moving to New Zealand I read with some level of apathy and disinterest about the way the political landscape is changing in the UK. However, one comment in recent press I must admit did make me chuckle!! Attached to the following story Transparent Accounting made by a user who goes by the monica of “LabourStoleMyCash” who says the following:

Electing Labour in 1997 has been like downloading malware…

Since he himself freely admits to voting for them himself. The culpability lies with him and the rest of voters out there if such a witty synonym were to be upheld as an accurate description. That’s part and parcel of being in the democratic “Casino” the UK has presented us with for the past twenty odd years.

Personally I have lost all faith in the voting process. Democracy only works if the values behind it are upheld. If you vote based on a promise and then you are let down; then democracy dies. Along with intergrity and common decency. In that sense the Labour of 1997 could be construed as “Malware” in the number of false promises given to the UK public…smells almost like a Trojan to me?

However this is all moot, why do so many people delight in entrenching themselves in the past instead of looking forwards and shaping the future….what ever happened to learning from past mistakes?

Rex Richardson comes to town :)

Rex Richardson

If you’ve ever listened to the trumpet as an instrument then you’ll appreciate it’s bright call amongst instruments; whether it is sat within the echelons of an orchestra or standing out from the crowd in a jazz quintet. Rex Richardson is a name that has become synonymous with trumpet playing the world over. Rex Richardson who comes from Richmond, Virginia where he currently sits as Professor of Trumpet and Jazz Trumpet at the Commonwealth University has been both musically prolific and world travelled for the past fifteen years. In recent times he has focused more as a jazz and classical soloist and has featured with many renowned musical groups; too many to mention here. The Yamaha Performing Artist who has featured in both classical and jazz contexts in many countries is looking forward to playing in Sweden, Australia, South America and Asia in the coming year.

Before he heads off to these places however, he is in Wellington, New Zealand for a busy itinerary which includes masterclasses at the NZ School of Music, and a number of Recitals culminating in a concert on Wednesday, 14th July 2010 in the evening, at St Andrews on the Terrace. This concert which will involve the NZ School of Music Brass Ensemble – 16 of this countries brightest brass students together in concert and Pelorus Brass Band who have been busy in their own right with recent contesting down in Dunedin.

Highlights for the concert are as follows:-

- Bullet Train by Allen Vizzutti
- Mambo Caliente by Arturo Sandoval
- Apophenia by Peter Meechen fo Bb Trumpet, Flugel Horn and Piccolo Trumpet.

Rex Richardson is proudly brought to the Wellington public with the assistance of Ssschmute, Music Works, Yamaha and Rata Records without whom none of this would have been possible.

Ever feel drained of ambition? Like you’ve pushed yourself but you have now reached a kind of plateau? Yeah… that’s kind of where I am at right now. Love my job, love my life… not quite sure where to go from here though. Not literally but perhaps more in a meta-physical sense of the word.

I’d never profess to being a driven man, things kind of happen to me along the way as life passes me by. I feel more like a spectator than a player sometimes. Am I alone in this outlook I wonder?

Once I figure out what I actually “want” I guess I will know where my life is heading. meh… I guess I’ve hit upon ‘apathetic’ Monday……

I’m not down, or depressed. I’m not annoyed. I’m not exstatic either….

…who knows…

in a word?

clueless…..

?

A curious thing…

So here I am, being prudent by tidying up my list of registered users on my blog since 90% of them were BOT originated, or from the Middle-East and Russia that I have now noticed a serious drop in the amount of unwanted SPAM comments hitting my blog, I simply can’t believe this is a coincidence????

Your thoughts…

I only have one thing to ask….
