Ok been a while since I last posted on my blog, thought I would start recording the earthquakes that I feel on a semi-regular basis here in Wellington, and whilst the other locals may disagree the jolt I felt this morning which lasted about 5 seconds was mildly impressive:-

3.6! And right on the doorstep too. So other than that, I am well and still breathing. I’ll be off to help as a tutor at band camp this weekend, so that’ll have it’s own set of stories that may or may not appear here on ths blog.

I’d review in more detail after seeing this film, but I’ll just recommend you go and see it! Possibly Brad Pitt’s most comedic role to date, and a surprising exit from the film as you watch this romptastic farce based upon misunderstandings between pretty much all parties concerned. Strong roles from all the big names in this, including George Clooney, John Malkovich, Tilda Swinton and France McDormand to name a few….

I loved this film, and would certainly give it another watch! You may need a cup of coffee before commencing your viewing however; as you need to stay fairly alert to keep on top of the various twists and turns in the crazy plot.

In other news yes I did dress up in Leiderhosen Shorts, braces and cap for the Octoberfest Beer Band Gig, we played really well all things considered, and even chucked out a rendition of ‘Eye of the Tiger’…good stuff!!

Since I am playing in a ‘Beer Band’ tomorrow night to help raise funds for the band, yes!! I’ll be wearing shorts and braces and a funny Bavarian style hat….score!@! I thought it would be rather topical to share this link with you!

Beer Goggles

Jeepers, where did the weekend go…? Might have something to do with the massive amount of rehearsing with the Brass Band, we fly down to Christchurch next Wednesday to defend our current title, which is huge stuff for us, because if we manage to pull this off, we will be bring an A Grade band back to the capital of New Zealand – sweet!

Yesterday we rehearsed from 12.00 (lunchtime) through to 6pm!! Hardcore! Leaving me just enough time to go and catch the All-Blacks anihalate (spelling?) the Springboks (sorry Rach)

Today started rather lazily for me, with a lie in followed by laundry, and a bit of pottering around on the computer (I suppose this is the modern evolution from pottering around in the garden shed??) followed by – yes you guessed it, MORE brass band rehearsing, you see we are running a concert/open rehearsal tomorrow night; ready for the big stuff next weekend….funnily enough a friend of our conductor wanted to record us for a film, we had to sound like a school band, apparently we were naturals….o.O

Me confident for Christchurch? Course I am!! (gulp)…

In other news – very unsurprising I have heard nothing from my local MP. Whom I wrote to via email regarding my council tax ‘fiasco’, I’ll let it ride for a further 28 days after which. I guess his stance will have been made clear….”who cares about the little guys after all?”
