Happy New Year 2012!!

Wow…doesn’t even seem like I’ve had a holiday. On Christmas Eve Rachael and I moved house (yes, again!) this time we intend to stay put for a little longer than 8 months hopefully. We didn’t finish moving fully until the 4th January 2012 and even as we speak I am waiting for the broadband to be reconnected!!!! (Slingshot customer servce leaves a lot to be desired).

In between all this excitement however we found some small amount of time to pop down to the South Island to stay with Rachael’s grandparents, Gay and Tony. During this time we met up with my sister who was in the area (sorry I couldn’t change all my plans to suit you) and took in my first harness race with Rachael’s grandparents (since they train harness race-horses) – they had two horses running in this race and one of them won! – “Kotare Roland” – it being my first harness race Gay and Tony were kind enough to let me come down to the winner’s circle with Rachael for a photo with the horse! Awesome!!

In other news I am back at work for the first time today, and trying not to get to stressed or swamped by anything. One of my New Year’s Resolutions is to remember that I am only human after all. We all have limits and whilst it’s healthy to push them from time to time, it’s also healthy to understand what those limits are.

Oh the memories?!!

More or less this time FIVE YEARS AGO! I posted this :

Well – all done with the band now, and for the first time in the history of me I have got all my Crimbo shopping done….maybe it’s cos I am such a Freek latley?? I have also just dyed my hair (what little I have back to blonde) it’s been about ten or so years since I was this drastic but I felt like a real change for the New Year!! Watch this Space for a piccy

In a stroke of mild irony; today is the day that my “missus” dyes ‘her’ hair in a wee experiment called “coolness” inspired in part perhaps by Manga/Anime/Cosplay etc…

This is shaping up to be a fine and entertaining Yule Season :D

Glandular Fever Maybe???

So I resumed work on the 22nd February almost a full month after being signed off work with severe swollen glands, fatigue and a temperature. Whilst I have never received a positive diagnosis from blood tests taken in A&E on the 5th February all the symptoms fit.

Taking each day as it comes.

I was unlawfully evicted last night just to add to my adventure ;p I won’t go into detail here, just in case legal proceedings are required to preserve the private rights of all parties concerned, although mainly me. I am still reeling in shock and I am extremely lucky I have such a caring pseudo-family nearby who have taken me in.

In other news thanks to my illness I have lost yet another 1/2 stone, putting me firmly under 85Kgs.

…Slightly Random

…So it’s Saturday afternoon, I am wandering around the windy (very very windy at 120km/h at times) expanse of Queen Elizabeth Park – Paekakariki (pie-car-car-reecky) I ‘was’ supposed to be playing a few carols on the cornet with some bandies however, the park was a lot bigger than anticipated, and Rachael and I couldn’t find any friendly faces… that said, a bee did take a fancy to my behind and proceeded to sting me… thanks!!

On Sunday I did a bit of baking, followed by wandering down to the Opera House to catch the twins (Rachael’s sisters) in their end of year ballet performance… great works as grass-hoppers too in Cinderella :)

In other knews – my birthday is tomorrow, despite some rumours that it is today (dad ;p I’ll await your phone call tomorrow unless further senility sets in lol…)

And this Wednesday I will be wandering my way to the South Island for a couple of weeks of exploring and excitement….this will ‘really’ put my vertigo to the test as some of the roads traverse mountains at several thousands of feet high, no turning back now though ;p

The trip of a lifetime…

As always I am waaay behind on my Christmas preparations, although in direct contrast to last year I am actually sending some pressies both to Hong Kong and to the UK this time around, this is possibly the most organised I have been in my entire life…. thanks largley to one of the grounding forces in my life right now (looks in Rachael’s general direction).

Speaking of organised, I have just put the finishing touches on the itinerary for my (our) South Island Tour of New Zealand. Which is to be packed with Pancake Rocks, Shanty Town, Adrenaline pumping “stuff” in Queenstown, Castles, Railway Stations and Cadbury’s in Dunedin, Dolphins in Akaroa; a little bit of ‘nz familyness’ in Rangiora and finally Whales in Kaikoura….

Approximatley a bazillion (bigger than a gazillion???) photo’s are to be taken, out of which the cream of the crop will be shared with you… my eager public :)
