….Oh Well…

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

So, if you think you have a suffered lifestyle, or that you are hard done by, then perhaps spare a thought for my mum. At present she is pretty much housebound, with carers visiting on a daily basis. On the menu of woes are the following – Arthritis of the Spine, Prolapse Discs in the Spine, Angina, Chronic Obstructive Breathing Disorder; which necessitates an Oxygen Compressor being present at all times at her home, and an Illioscopy limiting what food she can enjoy. All of this is pretty depressing stuff huh!? Despite such adversity she recently passed her 60th Birthday. It’s a shame I couldn’t have been round to take part in whatever celebrations may have taken place (being on the other side of the planet at the time) – what further dampens this story though is she won’t have appreciated any efforts for her big day because to add to her list she now has Cateracts and Glaucoma of her eyes…. which will need surgery to fix.

Whilst this is likley to require a local anaesthetic to deal with, I always fear when surgery and anaesthesia is involved, since the last time she had any major surgery she nearly didn’t leave the hospital and ended up in Intensive Care for a time.

Guess I’m feeling a little helpless at the moment….and filled with even LESS confidence in the UK welfare system.

HAPPY BURFDAY

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

…Wooooo, Happy Burfday MUM you have lasted to the BIG ….18 x (n^x)… :D

Hope you have an AWESOME day, sorry I can’t be there with you to celebrate, however I’m kinda on the other side of the planet… I’ll toast a drink in your absence none-the-less :->

Less of the egg timer, and more of the progress bar…

So, I am continuing to lose weight although a little slower of late, last time I weighed in at approximatley 98Kgs which is just under 14 stone! To put perspective on this, I was nearly 18 Stone when I moved out to New Zealand less than 2 years ago! Once I reach 13.5 Stone (85kg’s ish) I will be happy.

Alot of this progress has to be attributed to my adopted mum (Rachael’s mum), who has been feeding me healthy food :) and my increased exercise…. though I must admit I haven’t been for a jog in a while, I am still walking over 5 kms a day and I now climb 14 stories via the stairs at work three times a week, which is a great cardio/muscular workout!

In short… I am feeling young, sprightly and fit!

Subtle Energies

Today has a strange feeling. Not a bad one mind! I can’t quite place it. Like something deep inside me has stirred, and is trying to wake up! For the past couple of weeks I’ve been going through a bit of internal termoil. Complicated by the way my heart feels for certain people. Well today I realised that it doesn’t matter what anyone thinks about who I choose to love, at the end of the day, I will judge myself; and because those I choose to love, recieve it without any condition – I know I will judge favourably upon myself.

This has led me to another revalation if you like? I have come to the conclusion that you ‘CAN’ choose your family just as you ‘CAN’ choose your friends, and if your heart is in the right place, friends are just like your extended family anyway! It’s only enemies you cannot choose, so if you are in the unlucky position to have any enemies at all? You should make it your life’s work to make them you friends…..then perhaps one day – they may become your family.

My heart is open….

On the off-chance?

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Ok first things first, on the outside off-chance that you read this – Michelle Louise Laurie Catherine Fothergill-Carter!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY YOU OLD MUCKA!!!!? Hope some fate of the internet finds a way to get this message to you from little old me in New Zealand ;p

As for me, I am feeling better today than I was in the last couple of days, though I have to admit my traditional Saggitarian ability to be tactless is as honed as ever! (Rachael knows why)…I am now officially on countdown until my 2 week break, where I have lots planned, most of it essential, the clutch in my car will be replaced in readiness for my trip up to Napier (4 hours drive); and also I will no doubt be visiting the dentist again to get some much needed work done – and if you thought it was expensive in the UK, think again!! Had I not got such awesome friends I would have been looking at a bill close to $4,000!

Catch you later, I have a practice to do.
