First Post of a New Year…

Wednesday, January 5th, 2011

Well, it’s been an interesting Christmas and New Year (albeit a little quieter than past efforts); I tried to go whale watching in the South Island again this year and failed misreably. Apparently the sea was too rough (again)… so Rachael and I went exploring cave(s) instead…. just the one, but apparently home to the Tooth Faerie (who knew?!). We did some foal petting (i.e. being the first human contact for some very young horses) and some horse trekking.

That’s basically it for me, and now on with the New Year – as for resolutions my main one is to lose some weight as it has slowly crept up over the last couple of months which is never good. My current weight is at 101kg’s which although is still miles away from the 126kg’s I used to be, it’s still the wrong side of 100kg, my target is 90kg’s so that’s 11kg to lose. I can healthily lose about 5-6kg’s a month so theoretically I can be back to normal by March….. I’ve decided to start some swimming activities and walk a lot more (I simply don’t ‘do’ gyms) than usual and also reduce my alcohol intake a lot these measures alone should be sufficient to turn things around :)

If I had the space and was allowed to I’d get a pet dog, to help with my exercise regime. I guess all I need to do, is make some new exercise activities a habit, and the rest becomes easy right? I mean diet wise I always eat fresh fruit and veg, although I could drink more water…

sigh….

Happy New Year!!!

The POWER of Now…

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

Such an intriguing point of view. Throw ego out the door, quiet your mind, and forget about the past and the future, all that matters is – THE NOW!

Regret, Hope, Fear, Stress, Anxiety – ALL by-products of living outside of the NOW.

Although I can’t tell you how to get there, if you can find your way to the NOW, in body, mind and spirit – you’ve found the holy grail of exisistence my friends!

It’s time to turn the page, are YOU ready for a new chapter?

Stand and Deliver!

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

It’s been a while huh! Got some hard work planned for the weekend, most of Saturday is going to be spent recording with the Brass Band, for our forthcoming CD! So, I’ve been practicing, and practicing… and… well you get the picture. Also got a date with some ‘Hells’ Pizza too (not the reason for this post’s title by the way) this weekend; and maybe some friendly Texas Hold’em.

I watched ‘Plunkett & Macleane‘ again this evening, I must say; it’s one of my top ten DVD’s! considering there’s a very loose spattering of fact surrounding the main character’s this adds to the adventure – A man once of some means, hits rock bottom; falls in with an ex-apothecary (chemist to you and me!), and much robbing and horse-riding ensues! With a great host of top name actors – I have to say Ken Stott plays a great ‘baddy’ in this film. Lyv Tyler plays the teenage groupie basically who swoons over Jonny Lee Miller as Captain Macleane and his ‘man’ Robert Carlisle who plays Plunkett, which is certainly a name associated with brains; now – did you know the guy who invented Teflon had this surname? No? Well, it’s true! Roy Plunkett invented Teflon, by accident; back in 1938 and now here’s a real irony for ya! He was born in – wait for it!! New Carlisle; Ohio! Anyhoo – this poor guy is about as alive as the original ex-apothecary since he passed away almost exactly 14 years ago.

In other news, I are tired, so I are going to bed – grammer is soooo over-rated. Sleep on the other hand, isn’t….night all!

Curious but not like the cat!

A film crew have been lurking around the grounds at work these last couple of days and proved quite entertaining to watch during one of my ‘vdu breaks’ =p Although we’ve no idea at all what they are filming as they are being extremly tight lipped, using my incredible detective like power I was able to ascertain which crowd they were so just click the link and you’ll see they are the same outfit responsible for flicks like the Whale Rider for example!

I’ll keep my nose to the ground in case I learn any more!!
