Christmas is nearly here

Monday, December 20th, 2010

I’ve kind of neglected my blog of late, which is all Facebook’s fault!! My New Year’s resolution is to get to know my blog once more. I’m still in New Zealand – although now I have an unlimited returning visa which permits me to remain here indefinately. Home is (after-all) where the heart is. I have so many friends here it’s difficult for me to feel homesick for the UK (with the clear exception of family of course!!)

2011 looms ever closer; I have lots of things planned for the New Year; some of which is personal some of which is professional. I feel I have grown a good deal in the last few months. I have a new outlook; and I have started making long term plans involving myself and my significant other…. something of a first for me – looking beyond the next 3 months?! My aim is to plan and execute the trip of a lifetime, New Zealand to Hong Kong (say hi to my sister) and then onto Paris for a few days. After that we take in the high points of the UK and return to New Zealand via Rome for a few days. There are plenty of other places I want to visit, but this is a good start…

I’ll sign off for now wishing everyone a Happy Christmas and a Safe New Year… remember – drinking alcohol and driving is reserved purely for the idiots of our world. If I don’t blog before… have yourself a good’en

…oh and my SPAM is still at 0…. so either I’ve won the battle or nobody is visiting my site anymore…. o.O

Taking ‘Stock’

Monday, April 28th, 2008

Well, what an eventful weekend…

Apart from watching “Death-proof” – instant Tarrantino classic, and featuring a New Zealander stunt chick – Zoe Bell as herself to boot!! I must admit, he could make a 30 second advert for TV and it would be an instant classic!! The man’s a LEGEND~!

So, anyhooo – come Saturday evening, and my landlords invite me along with them and some friends to Timaru (near Upper Hutt), Speedway to take in the season finale – Stock Car races, and Demolition Derby. For $15 you get three plus hours of gritty, petrol fumed pure adrenaline! I even got to wander round the pitts during the races…TOP! The highlight of the evening was seeing the Super-Saloon Class racing, all these soop’d up slick cars, AND a Mini!!! The Mini held it’s own however – I even had a chat with the driver; since he’s the nephew of one of my landlord’s friends?!

Goood times!

Anna the Mum!!!

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

Many congratulations!!

After one of the longest labours I have heard of in a long while, you have become a new mum! I am sooooo happy for you :D I am also incredibly made up that my vibe for a boy was on the money…

Welcome to the world Charles Alexander (Charlie), and may you bring positive change for all our futures…

For those not in the know, Anna is a good friend and former colleagues from my UK days!

Lol listen to me…..’my UK days’, I say it so nonchalently (spelling?)

How time flies?!

Friday, April 4th, 2008

Here I am… “busy” at work, and I have just realised that as of next Tuesday I will have been here in New Zealand for a whole six months!! That’s like half a year man! I’m a little fragile today too, as my partner in crime(s) Jason dragged me out last night, for a couple of scoops (unfortunatley niether of us can count to two so we lost count of how many bourbon and cokes we had)….

Slowly feeling better, not sure I’ll be out again tonight, that would be asking for trouble! I seriously need some sleep when I get home later…

Watching the sink…

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

You know, all this time I had often wondered… Does the sink empty any differently in Australia compared to the UK? Well, I can offer the answer today… no. I’m feeling a little drained today both physically and financially :P I slightly overdid the sauce last night in town and didn’t get back to the appartment until sometime past 05.30hrs?!

As penance I forced myself to get up around 11am, chilled for a bit, and walked for 25 mins to get to the mall and type this. I’m too hard on myself sometimes :P
