Could You Do it?

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

For what may seem obvious reasons to some, I decided to bite the bullet in recent times and go for a new position with a different organisation; (I know I am still a bit of a tease with this) – anyways; it would appear I am getting an initial interview which for this kind of change is a major hurdle surmounted, I expect I will still have to survive a few rounds of interviews before I can set things truly in motion…

Of course here’s the catch – sell your house, your car, get rid of most of the none essentials within your personal belongings and life; and catch the next flight to….

New Zealand!

…and start a new one :D

See?  Told you I don’t do small change!  I’m really looking forward to a chance to work in an environment that isn’t profit driven; which will hopefully recognise my potential and encourage me to grow (professionally and personally).

On a more sombre note, this does have it’s consequences, I’ll be leaving my immediate family and the brass band I have been a member of for years, they will struggle with a weakened front row – but I see these as necessary sacrifices in my personal development.

Of course I “still” need to be selected from the short list yet, so fingers crossed everyone!

I’m not trying to sound snobby, or upper crust.  However, when it’s time to make a change in you’re life, there’s nothing better than BIG changes; in my opinion…. it’s a great way of finding your limits – the good old…. “Sink or Swim” mentality.  “Fight or Flight” – it’s quite an adrenaline buzz, throwing almost everything to chance (however still with a moderate level of planning of course?! I’m not a sadist).

I’m currently on the cusp of just such a moment in my life, and whilst I wish I could say more - it’s still too early to go into much details (but for the perceptive amongst you, the clues are “out there”)…

Once the wheel of change is well and truly in motion I will blog some more – to share some of the adventure that’s about to happen.

Time for a new start, and a new beginning…

I’m not going to beat around the bush, I’ve been treading water with my current employer for over a year.  This has sapped my drive, engagement and some of my ambition where I am currently.  BUT – it turns out there could be just the medicine hiding around the corner, an opportunity to push my skills to the limit, at the forefronts of technology, and it’s an exciting prospect indeed.  I won’t go into too much detail yet until I know myself.

Suffice to say, I am currently doing my homework towards, not just a new job, but a new life as well.

Your Mission Should You Choose…

….I’ve literally walked back through the door from a long – if somewhat arduous day in London, meeting went swimmingly; although I didn’t manage to escape without the odd action with my name against it – hey ho….once that was done, I had “fun” connecting my laptop onto the network to pass the time of the rest of the day, whilst I waited for my return journey.

Speaking of which, I must say I am less than impressed.  “Ok” it’s not a “Full” First-Class ticket, but it is still a First-Class ticket, and “ok” so the drinks were flowing and I was offered refreshements on more than one occasion in passing….but you’d think for my trouble of getting a First-Class ticket I would see at least “one” celebrity travelling right??  WRONG… nada… no-one, I had virtually the whole carriage to myself from Euston to Crewe!  I think there were two other businessmen in there tops!  Bah!? I feel so cheated :P

In other news, I’m gonna have a nice chilled glass of wine then I’m off to bed.  Night folks!
